CIVIL DEATH PENALTY

In Philadelphia , The Department of Human Services CPS (Child Protective Services) division has its claws dug into low income black families. It supports a system of family policing that instills the same fear and disharmony as our ancestors. Child separation has been and still is a devastating and common practice that started during slavery in this here 'land of the free.' Enslaved children were forcibly separated from their families to serve the economic interest of slaveholders without any possibility of reunification. Today, In Family Court, children are still valuable assets and they have become victims of legal kidnapping. Today, Families live in the same constant fear of losing their children and or having their parental rights taken away. A simple court procedure can cause the same immense trauma and emotional distress as the slaves experienced during deliberate separation, Those slave holders had no empathy or pity in their hearts because enslaved people were only considered property and had no legal rights to maintain family bonds. The legacy of said separations has contributed to the generational trauma and disruption of family structures that continue to be seen and felt today in low income black communities across the country. I agree that the saddest place besides a hospital or funeral home is the courthouse. Families crammed together in seats, cops with dispositions ready to thrash a mother, ignorant judges, sad mothers,scared mothers, alone mothers. public defenders tryin to get payment slips signed before they even meet who they are representing that day,
